The pipe organ in the Chapel
of Trinity Episcopal Church New Orleans, LA was built in the 1937 by the Moeller
pipe organ company. In the summer of
2009 we were contacted by the church misic director, Albinas Prizgintas to
rebuild and expand the Chapel pipe organ.
In this process we kept the original console shell and installed all new
keyboards, pedalboard, stop tabs, stop magnets, pistons, and capture
system. The 1937 chests and pipes were
restored and used as a Swell division with judicious borrowing to the
Pedal. A new Great of 3 unit stops was
added behind the wonderful reredos. The
position of the reredos is roughly 3'-0" from the back wall of the chancel. Casework matching the original reredos was
constructed between the reredos and rear wall of the chancel on both right and
left sides to visually mask the new pipes and chest.
